In the competitive world of e-commerce, a strong SEO strategy can make all the difference. In this case study, we’ll explore how I was able to help Lodka5 (https://lodka5.com.ua/), a Ukrainian boat shop with over 10,000 pages and content in two languages, overcome significant challenges and achieve over 100% growth in just one year.
The Situation
Lodka5 was struggling with a spammy backlink profile, weak site structure, irrelevant content and meta-tags on category and product pages, and low page speed results. These issues were holding the site back from reaching its full potential and driving the traffic and sales it needed to succeed.
The Challenge
To turn things around for Lodka5, we needed to address the site’s backlink profile, optimize its structure, improve the relevancy of content and meta-tags, and enhance page speed results. Implementing these changes would require a comprehensive and strategic approach to SEO.
The Strategy
Our first step was to correct the site’s structure by refining categories and subcategories and creating optimized product filter pages. This made it easier for users to navigate the site and for search engines to understand its content.
Next, we focused on optimizing meta-tags and producing relevant content for both category and product pages, which helped these pages get indexed and rank higher in search results. We also improved internal and external linking to further enhance the site’s SEO performance.
To tackle the spammy backlink profile, we disavowed low-quality links and built new, high-quality backlinks to replace them. We then implemented Schema markup to enhance snippets and increase the click-through rate (CTR), particularly for category and filter pages featuring aggregate ratings and FAQs.
Finally, we addressed the site’s low page speed results by implementing various optimization techniques, ensuring a smoother user experience and better overall performance.
The Results
Thanks to the combined efforts of addressing backlinks, optimizing site structure, and enhancing content and page speed, Lodka5 experienced more than 100% growth within a year. The product filter pages were quickly indexed by Google and ranked within the Top-5 search results, further boosting the site’s visibility and traffic.
Conclusion
This case study demonstrates the power of a well-executed SEO strategy in the e-commerce space. By addressing key challenges and making targeted improvements, we were able to transform Lodka5 into a thriving online business. As the site continues to grow and evolve, the foundation we’ve built will ensure its ongoing success in the competitive world of e-commerce.
